The reason is simple…people buy from people. When you are online, you are not the only affiliate for the program that you are promoting. There are thousands of affiliates promoting the same product as you. So why should they buy from you?

The secret to getting them to buy from you is to get them to know, like, and trust you. You need to appear as someone who is credible. Nobody loves spending their hard earned money. When you are a customer, you become sceptical about everything. Just imagine the last time somebody approached you to sell something, I am sure there is some form of defence mechanism which you have built up.

However, when the salesperson presents himself as someone who is credible, whom you can trust, you tend to pull out your wallet / credit card. It dissolves that defence mechanism and you feel confident in purchasing from him.

Tip #1 to Earn Instant Credibility – Openly Argue Against Your Own Self Interest

This is an interesting point that Derek has pointed out.

When Derek first launched his product, he openly told who his product is NOT for.

Do you find it weird?

In fact, it is not weird at all. Instead, what happened was he presented himself as someone who has credibility because he was honest about who his product is for. Furthermore, you will be able to reduce dissatisfied customers who will ask for refunds or provide you with bad testimonials.

Secondly, when he presented it this way, your offer will seem more legit. Think of it this way, how can there be a product which will be suitable and be able to solve everyone’s needs. When you hear these comments…I am sure there is a “S” word which will appear in your brian…SCAM!

**Key message: Don’t only think who your offer is for, but think which group of audience will not benefit from your offer and OPENLY tell it in your video message or sales letter.

Tip #2 to Earn Instant Credibility – People believe PRECISE numbers

If you have been around in the internet marketing niche for some time now, this is a common knowledge but many people are not using this out of laziness.

It is just so much more convenient to round numbers up.

Let’s compare 2 examples below and see which one sounds more credible.

  1. I have a method which will help you got 100+ targeted clicks and make $180 in commissions from a single Facebook post
  2. I have a method which will help you get 163 targeted clicks and make $184.46 in commission from a single Facebook post

I’ll leave you to find the answer for yourself.

How do you apply this in internet marketing? The next time you advertise your squeeze page, instead of saying 5 figures, provide a number, preferably with decimal points. Instead of making $100 a day, say $107.35 a day. Use numbers which you know you are able to back it up 😉

Tip #3 to Earn Instant Credibility – Provide proof when you make any claims

Don’t just spout opinions. Cite a source. Provide a screenshot.

I like what Derek Halpern did in the video. He actually re-winded the video to when he was explaining on the second point, where he provided an example and he cited a source from a seemingly credible Dr.

He was able to back up what he was saying and you know that he is not sprouting nonsense.

If you do not know where to look for proofs, here are a few tips for you:

  1. Statistics
  2. Personal Stories
  3. Testimonials
  4. Research
  5. Professional or media-given accolades

People love social proofs. People are willing to provide special offers just to get good testimonials. For example, vendors provide review access copies before an official launch. Solo ads vendors collect testimonials from their customers etc.
